Short History

Officer Mechanical has been a keystone in the mechanical contracting industry since 1971. Bill Officer had been working in the industry in central Missouri since 1958. He had the experience and ambition to own and operate a regional commercial/industrial contracting business. Bill and his union crews have worked on high profile projects such as Rusk Rehabilitation Center, Boone Hospital Center, Kraft Foods, Textron, Rock Bridge High School, and many more. Officer Mechanical has always been heavily involved with State and University of Missouri construction and maintenance personnel, and their facilities and mechanical systems. The company has earned a reputation for integrity and attention to detail. Anchored by world class foremen, Bill Gholson and Tom Dodson, the company has become known for its ability to get the tough jobs done right, on time, and on budget.

In May of 2000, the company was purchased by the principle estimator and project manager Greg Asbury. Over many years, the practiced and proven methods, which had contributed to the company's success, were meticulously passed down from Bill and his foremen. Because of this, and Greg's 22 years of experience in the central Missouri mechanical contracting industry, a seamless transition was achieved. Recent projects include the new Tribune press and commercial printing facility, Columbia Public Library, Isle of Capri Casino, renovations to Memorial Stadium, construction and renovations at State and University facilities, local factories, and all central Missouri hospitals.

Plans for the future include the use of digital technology for efficiency, organization, and communication. Officer Mechanical was one of the first contractors in central Missouri to have an internal computer network and DSL access to the Internet. Company growth is forecasted in the large and expanding central Missouri commercial mechanical service and repair market. This will be supported by the use of new construction equipment and tools. The association with Plumber and Pipefitters Local 562 will continue to provide a competent, well-trained work force.
